Compensation
At S&C;, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $87990 - $116578. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training.
This position may also be eligible for S&C;’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and individual performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 5% of annual base earnings.
Reporting to the Director- HR, The Internal Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing S&C; Canada’s internal communications efforts and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide goals and priorities. This position is responsible for developing and managing strategic communication plans that organize and prioritize communications needs for S&C; Canada, while ensuring team members are connected to S&C;'s overall strategic initiatives, purpose, mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal Communications Strategy & Localization for Canada: Lead the development, planning, and execution of internal communication strategies tailored specifically to S&C; Canada’s operational priorities, workforce needs, and cultural context. Ensure alignment with S&C;’s purpose, mission, vision, values, and brand guidelines while localizing messages for Canadian audiences.
- Primary Communications Partner for Canadian Leadership : Serve as the central point of contact for internal communications across S&C; Canada. Maintain a close connection with Canadian leadership to proactively identify communication needs, opportunities, and risks. Provide strategic counsel on messaging, timing, tone, and change management.
- Content Planning & Execution: Develop compelling, relevant content across multiple formats, including email, intranet, mobile app, digital signage, video, presentations, and leader toolkits. Maintain a Canada-focused editorial calendar and coordinate with enterprise communications for alignment.
- Cross-Border Alignment & Collaboration : Partner with the enterprise Director of Internal Communications to ensure Canadian messaging aligns with global strategy.
Serve as a conduit to represent Canadian needs, feedback, and stories in enterprise-wide communications.
- Channel & Platform Management: Manage Canadian communication channels, including intranet pages, team member emails, digital signage, and onsite communication boards. Improve communication accessibility for shop-floor and non-desk team members.
- Feedback, Insights & Measurement : Gather feedback from Canadian team members, frontline supervisors, and leaders to support continuous improvement. Provide insights to Canadian and enterprise communicators to refine messaging strategies.
- Operational Coordination & Execution : Support communication needs for initiatives across HR, Operations, EHS, and other functions. Develop communication plans and materials for programs related to safety, culture, engagement, events, and change initiatives.
- Compliance & Workplace Expectations : Ensure communications meet S&C; content standards, brand guidelines, and Canadian regulatory considerations. Maintain regular attendance and participate in onsite and virtual meetings as required. Communicate respectfully and professionally at all times.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field is an asset.
- 7+ years of experience in internal communications, with experience supporting Canadian operations or distributed workforces.
- Experience in Canadian manufacturing environments and experience supporting multi-site operations is an asset.
- Experience tailoring enterprise-wide communications for regional audiences, particularly manufacturing and technical teams.
- Expert writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to localize tone and content for Canadian audiences.
- Understanding of Canadian workplace norms, communication expectations, and general awareness of regional/provincial considerations.
- Ability to support and influence leaders through effective communication planning and message preparation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance enterprise and regional priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate matrixed relationships between Canada and U.S. partners.
- Experience gathering employee feedback and using insights to shape communication strategies.
- Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
Physical Effort:
Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs.
Work Environment:
Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of everyday expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events).
