Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Summer Cook to join our team. This role is responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, kid-friendly meals for up to 100 children and staff attending our summer day camp, with the opportunity to extend into a permanent part-time position during the school year.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare balanced, child-friendly menus for lunch and snacks
- Cook and serve meals for up to 90 children and staff daily
- Accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions safely and responsibly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment (includes washing and sanitizing dishes utensils, and all kitchen equipment)
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Manage food inventory, ordering, and storage
- Coordinate with s to ensure timely meal service
- Communicate professionally and effectively with staff and supervisors
Qualifications
- Previous experience cooking for large groups (camp, school, or childcare setting preferred)
- Knowledge of nutrition and child-friendly meal planning
- Valid Food Safe certification
- Clear criminal record check
- Robust organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have
- Experience working in childcare or camp settings
- First Aid certification
- Creativity in menu planning for children
- Baking skills and experience
Schedule & Compensation
- 5–8 hour shifts, Monday to Friday between 7:30am to 3:00pm (summer season)
- Opportunities to transition into a permanent part-time role during the school year
- Hourly rate starting at $25.54
- Start date: June 2026
