The Health Leaves Assistant is responsible for supporting the medical leave of absence program. The role works closely with external contacts such as HOOPP and the plan provider, and internal teams including Occupational Health and Safety, Centralized Staffing and People Services. The role carries out a variety of audit and data entry functions, ensuring up-to-date and accurate record keeping.

Rate of Pay: $23.299 per hour - $29.122 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Duration May 8, 2020 - August 31, 2021


Successful completion of a two-year diploma in Office Administration, Human Resources Management or as acceptable to the hospital

Minimum of one year recent experience directly related to the provision of administrative services regarding disability management

A positive, enthusiastic and empathetic orientation to customer service with the ability to respond to employees and external inquiries in a responsive manner within a deadline-oriented environment

Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, organization and prioritization skills

High level of initiative and self-direction

Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail is critical

Advanced computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of applications required (MS Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Experience with PeopleSoft and Workbrain systems is preferred

Working knowledge of LHSC’s health leaves policies and programs is preferred

Experience in a healthcare environment is an asset

Demonstrated ability to function harmoniously within a team environment

Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care

Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values

Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.

Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
