You will investigate, analyze, underwrite, quote, bind and provide service in support of an industry leading Professional Liability portfolio in Canada. Lines of business include Professional Indemnity, Management Liability, and all related coverages.

Portfolio range includes national banks and programs to SME private business; significant focus in Financial Advisors.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Critical thinking, superior judgement, problem solving, an ability innovate in response to market demand;

Participate in business strategy development and implementation;

Responsive to changes in legal liability landscape and its perceived impact to portfolio financial performance;

Build and maintain profitable business portfolio, manage renewals proactively and provide excellent customer service;

Develop new business opportunities in accordance with AXIS risk appetite and underwriting standards;

Actively prospect new qualified submissions from brokers across all regions in Canada;

Form, develop and maintain strong working ties with core group of specialty FI brokers across Canada;

Purposeful cross-marketing in support of branch colleagues in other product lines;

Underwrite individual risks, understand limit structure, retention, pricing and endorsements;

Active participant in peer review framework;

Review accounts with senior management to achieve consensus and underwriting authority prior to quoting terms;

Exceed customer service expectations, strong standards relating to quote turnaround, policy issuance, communication, renewal management, file documentation;

Occasional business travel throughout the year to attend client meetings, prospect new business and market AXIS capabilities to core brokers

Invitation to participate in projects affecting future business planning, product innovation, application development, defining risk appetite, responding to market observations;

Engage data analytics tools and colleagues at AXIS to optimize decision making based on informed models and balanced underwriting judgement;

Collaboration! Internally and externally, engage stakeholders effectively;

Other work as may be assigned by the Unit Lead.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree

A minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant underwriting experience in Canada

Critical thinking skills; superior judgement and problem-solving skills; an ability innovate in response to market demand

Appropriate technical underwriting expertise and underwriting skill set

Knowledge of specialty commercial insurance and underwriting principle

Critical skills also include financial literacy, ability to evaluate audited financials



OTHER SKILLS:

Strong people skills

Excellent communication and marketing skills

Comfortable speaking in a team environment

Strong computer literacy; data analytics training an asset

Established broker network, contacts and relationships
