Temporary Part Time Hot Lunch Supervisor (Calgary)

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 5,900 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.

Savanna School is seeking a motivated and organized individual to coordinate and deliver our hot lunch program twice weekly. The Hot Lunch Supervisor will be responsible for planning, shopping for, preparing, and serving nutritious hot lunches to students and staff on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This role plays an important part in supporting our school community and ensuring safe, efficient food service.

Schedule: 14 hours/week - 5 hours Tuesdays and Thursdays and 4 hours for weekly shopping (Possibility of expanding role for the right candidate)

Key Responsibilities

Menu Planning & Food Preparation

- Plan and prepare two hot lunches each week.
- Ensure meals follow basic nutrition standards and appeal to students.

Shopping & Cost Management

- Shop weekly to source necessary food and supplies (4 hours/week).
- Seek competitive pricing and choose the best vendors.
- Set pricing for hot lunch sales to ensure cost recovery.

Food Safety & Compliance

- Successfully complete a Protected Food Handling certification course (provided and paid for by the school).
- Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitization of the food preparation and serving areas.
- Follow all Alberta Health and safety standards.

Volunteer Coordination

- Oversee and support any parent or community volunteers assisting with the hot lunch program.




- Ensure all food safety protocols are followed by volunteers.

Qualifications

- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience preparing meals for groups is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and team with volunteers.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Willingness to complete the Safe Food Handling certification at school expense.
