Oncept Trading LLC is a privately held energy trading company based in California. We focus on managing funds in electric power and other energy commodities. As a participant in North American Independent System Operator (“ISO”) wholesale electric power markets, Oncept Trading primarily participates in PJM, MISO, and ERCOT markets. Our team is involved in a variety of activities including electric power trading, market analysis, trading tools development, and risk management. We are looking for candidates interested in building a career in the field of Electric Power Markets.

Energy Market Analyst Opportunity at Oncept Trading:

The specific responsibilities for this position include:

- Collaborating closely with the Virtual and Financial markets trader to analyze trading opportunities
- Conducting ISO market research and relay findings with the trading team.
- Collecting, organizing and maintaining of power market data into cloud database to facilitate trading tools development and operation
- Build and implement investment models, quantitative models, which will evaluate factors and market signals to support trade execution, risk management and will lead to a direct impact on PnL
- Will seek out ways to improve upon existing trading business reporting processes which will lead to improved information flow to trading and executives

What We’re Looking For:

- Strong ability to work collaboratively and independently, handling multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Solid quantitative and analytical skills, especially robust in goal-oriented problem-solving mentality.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain analysis and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Programming experience in Python, VBScript, SQL, or R, Power Bi
- Experience working with ML/AI models and incorporating them into models
- Understanding of financial market instruments and able to model options
- An advanced degree in Financial Engineering, Statistical Sciences, Financial Insurance, Mathematical/Computational Finance, Engineering or another quantitative discipline.

Bonus Qualifications:

- Hands-on experience or familiarity with ISO markets (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP)
