Performs intermediate firmware and software testing activities including, but not limited to test system development, test development and execution under the direction of other team Test Engineers. Has responsibility for development and execution of tests within the assigned program. Has indirect supervision of test technicians on assigned projects. Responsible for contributing to the development of new test procedures. Focus is on delivering high quality product, in an efficient manner.
Perform intermediate functional and product testing on embedded firmware based projects at the unit, integration and functional level.
Contributes to the modification and creation of test proceduresand associated test scripts.
Responsible for the realization of test stations for automation and functional testing.
Executes product functional test plans and test cases from product Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and firmware High Level Design documents (HLDD).
Contributes to the implementation of product and system test set-ups.
Development of software test scripts utilizing C#, C++, Python or other common programming language.
Has familiarity with the functionality of a motor drive / power converter and can apply test principals relative to the functional operation of that equipment.
Work with software / firmware developers to identify test opportunities in test applications and methods.
Investigate product problems, with emphasis on software/firmware product support.
Participate in appropriate support programs to assure that products continue to fill the customer's needs.
Stay abreast of new test technology developments and applications that can be used in products through participation in technology seminars, courses, and independent study.
Must complete design and implementation documentation as specified by the Common Development Processes, and associated with the functional process requirements.
Must keep a notebook of documented notes that thoroughly explains conceptual thoughts, conditions, restrictions, analysis, synthesis, and test results that serve as justification for test and system design.
Participate in Test setup designs (HW & FW)
Ability to work as a team member for the test organization within Rockwell Automation.
Ability to embrace change and common process within the test organization.
Adapts to change by identifying needs, adjusting, and working with others as appropriate to implement initiatives.
Must contribute to the oversight of the activities of any non-exempt personnel including training.
Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to : Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14001, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.
Gain and maintain the support of stakeholders and decision makers required to achieve product quality goals.
Drives activities toward completion with the ability to communicate functionally within the test organization.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, with concentration in firmware / software.
Minimum of 2 years experience in Software Testing, Firmware Development, Applications Engineering work, Technical Support, or other Testing/Quality Assurance role.
Knowledge of software / firmware test methodologies is desired.
Familiar with Power Electronics HW Design
Familiar with Rockwell Automation products or other industrial control equipment is required.
