Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Network Analyst, the incumbent is responsible for: staging, installing,

maintaining and responding to problems with library servers; participates in the maintenance of the library physical and logical network infrastructures; respond to security vulnerabilities and threats; documentation and training related to areas of specialization and other related duties.

Education

Job Requirements:


- Completion of two-year diploma in computer sciences or related discipline at a technical institute or community college supplemented by courses in systems’ security, network and communication systems technology.


Experience


- Sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


- Considerable knowledge of the principles, capabilities, methods and practices in the installation and operation of computer and network hardware, software and operating systems.
- Considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the identification and resolution of hardware and software, operating systems and communication problems on networked microcomputers.
- Sound knowledge of the functions of the library’s departments served and their requirements and of departmental functions, procedures, policies, regulations and requirements as related to the work performed.
- Sound knowledge of communications and local area network systems technology as it relates to the work performed.
- Ability to investigate, document, assess and resolve network related software and hardware problems.
- Ability to install and configure hardware and software on servers and networked microcomputers.
- Ability to evaluate hardware and software and make recommendations regarding the acquisition and use of same.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to work independently and establish work priorities.
- Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.
