This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.


The Clinical Practice Team Lead is a Registered Nurse who provides leadership to the entire clinical team in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement and research initiatives which have an impact on care and service provision within the Legacy of Life/Critical Care Organ Donation Program.

The Clinical Practice Team Lead utilizes her/his clinical expertise in critical care nursing and specifically deceased organ donation, interpersonal and leadership skills to promote and foster the professional development of the interprofessional team. In addition to the operational leadership role for the team, this position participates in the creation of standardized curriculum, resources and tools for healthcare professionals working in clinical areas with deceased donation opportunities. She/he works collaboratively with the leadership of the clinical service area and the Clinical Nurse Educator(s) to plan and support continuing education and clinical skill development within the clinical team, especially as it relates to the maintenance of donation clinical competencies.

This position partners with Clinical Nurse Educators and the CCOD Coordinators for implementation of education across the zones. In conjunction with the Education Lead and Regional Donation Physicians, she/he develops an education platform that is comprehensive and accessible.

The Clinical Practice Team Leader leads by example in accordance with departmental, facility and national best practices for deceased donation as well as maintains clinical expertise in organ donor best practices. She/he supports the quality program and accesses audit results to identify learning needs for CCOD Coordinators and health professionals in applicable clinical care areas related to donation.

This position builds upon the competencies of the CCOD coordinator job description. The percentage of time allocated to accountabilities will fluctuate over time depending upon the needs of the program at any given point in time.


- Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Currently registered with NSCN or eligible for registration
- 5 years recent experience working in an organ donation/procurement organization
- Adult education certification/training an asset
- Valid driver’s licence required and access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience in educating healthcare professionals and demonstrated knowledge and application of adult learning principles
- Demonstrated experience in clinical/practice leadership roles
- Knowledge and comfort in using remote communication and learning technology
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and group management skills
- Demonstrated high degree of independent decision-making, self-direction, motivation, change management knowledge, time management and team building/leadership skills
- Proven ability to use creative problem-solving and consider uncharted or novel ideas
- Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills with proven track record of leading high performing teams
- Must be willing and able to travel to other parts of the province when required
- Ability to carry out research, analyze information, and provide statistical reports on health issues related to donation process
- Demonstrates planning, development and organizational skills
- Conceptual skills in relation to operational and strategic planning
- Demonstrates leadership experience in an effective interprofessional health care team in a clinical care setting. Prior experience in adult learning and education, time management and evaluation
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Permanent, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Salary Information

$39.0307 - $44.5927 hourly
($46.1534 hourly with 25 years RN experience)
