ROLE PURPOSE

The Intermediate Accountant will ensure that Connective has financial information that is timely, accurate, and can be fully relied upon to support the needs of operational management and strategic planning of the agency. Connective is a growing organization. This role is best suited to someone comfortable working remotely in a changing, dynamic environment

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS





• Reports and is accountable to the Director of Finance or their designate
• Participates as a member of the Connective Administrative Support Team
• Liaises with staff and volunteers of community and government agencies as required
• Liaises with the staff of Connective as necessary

WORK HOURS

40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 0830 - 1630

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accounts Payable
• Checks, verifies, processes, and documents invoices
• Sorts, organizes, and assigns invoices for payment
• Posts and reconciles credit card transactions
• Reviews and approves employee expenses
• Reviews and approves operating program expenses
• Corresponds with vendors regarding payment status and discrepancies
• Analyzes discrepancies and manages invoice aging

Accounts Receivable
• Prepares and issues invoices to customers and funders
• Receives and records payments
• Analyzes discrepancies and manages invoice aging
• Tracks and corresponds with funders regarding overdue customer accounts
• Reviews bank deposits

Financial Reporting
• Prepares month end and year end working paper reconciliations




• Reconciles bank statements

Other Duties
• Assists with month end and year end processes
• Assists with year end audit procedures
• Provides support to the payroll, administrative, and program teams
• Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Function independently, while remaining a crucial member of the support team
• Adhere to Connective policies and procedures
• Be available to work flexible schedule as needed. May include some
evenings/weekends, as determined by the regional office needs and schedules

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Successful completion of a university degree or diploma in accounting
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards it is an
asset
• Experience in full cycle accounting




• Familiarity with accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations, internal
controls, and financial reporting
• Familiarity with accounting systems
• Willingness to learn new skills and provide input to improve current processes
• High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
• Ability to organize and manage time efficiently
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written)

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to successfully complete a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check
• Ability to successfully pass a reference check

COMPENSATION

The annual salary range for this position is $56,900 to $71,070, will be based on experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for the organization's comprehensive benefits package.



The salary range provided represents the total compensation plan for this position. Actual salary placement will be determined based on a variety of factors, including pay equity, market conditions, candidate experience, internal equity, and organizational priorities. Placement within the range is typically at the midpoint.

Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
